Harper's Ferry

One of the great benefits of living in DC is the proximity to incredibly beautiful and interesting historical spots.  Here are a few photos from Harper's Ferry, about 60 miles northwest of DC in West Virginia.

Winston loved it because there were two rivers (to throw rocks into) and a train that runs through town every few hours.  Given his obsession with Thomas the Tank and friends, trains (be they metro of "real trains") bring pure joy at each sighting.

Another cool aspect of Harper's Ferry was that there were people dressed up in "period" outfits showing us what a 1800s hospital looked like (it was a dustry tent with scary looking) and the sleeping quarters of solders passing through.  There was a floutist (he loved that Winston started to dance when he heard the music) playing lively music, and of course lots of interesting shops and stores to explore in the town.
