The speed with which the days, weeks and months are passing is breathtaking. When I look back on the past 7 months, I am very appreciative that Aunt Barb suggested we document the every day moments. I'm also committed to trying to post updates more frequently, if only so we may reflect back in a few years (or 10) and relive the joy that Winston brings us at any given moment (or the frustration in many other moments). I have to figure out how to post photos and updates more efficiently than the current approach...will need to consult my techy gurus on that!
Mary came into town a few weekends ago while I was in Chicago for work. I was gone for 3 days, and came back to find that my topsy little guy, who needed lots of help to sit up, was sitting un-assisted for extended periods of time. I am convinced Grandma's undivided attention put him over the top! We're also seeing a bit more sound development --- dadada is now interspersed with bababa. Dave is coaching him on mamamama but so far, no dice.
Now that Winston is more stable, bath time is tremendously fun for him. The splashing and giggling is just out of control, and Dave and I get a kick out of his extreme excitement. I don't think that bath time will ever be part of the "relax and unwind" bedtime routine for this little one.
Here's a bath time video (filmed on a day that coincided with a Charlie Sheen 911 situation that involved "female companions" hence the reference in the audio)...

Last week, Winston had his first real "sick day" from school - in fact, 3 days. He was sent home on Wednesday with a fever, which persisted until Friday afternoon. At the doctor's advice, we had him on Amoxicillin and baby Tylenol, but come to find out that he has a skin reaction to Amoxicillin (good to know) so that was discontinued. He still has a bit of a cough, but no more fever, thank goodness. The anxiety of caring for a sick child is intense, so we are very relieved he is better.
It is a testament to his good nature that even with a 102 fever, Winston was a kind little guy. He whimpered a bit, but in general we didn't see a huge change in his energy, mood or appetite. However, he had trouble sleeping at night and ended up spending much of the week cuddled between mom and dad.
We've had a busy week this week, including a long overdue visit with the Lofgrens on Sunday, Tuesday dinner with Mo and Cecilia (which included checking out the new building for the New World Symphony designed by Gehry) and the Lorettas over for dinner last night.
There is much to look forward to this month - Winston and I will be out in Los Angeles this coming weekend for a quick trip. Michael is coming into town the following weekend, and Kate Krappman, a friend from high school, is visiting the Miami FSHA contingent down here at the end of the month.
